We outfit teams with pants of all colors. Some want knickers, others want full length. Some want piping others want pinstripes. However, we didn't realize how controversial one of those options would be: The white pant.
We hear all over the internet how difficult keeping the white pants white are. We've heard your usual "White Brite and Iron Out are for dirt; Murphy’s Oil Soap is for turf"
Here are our top options for how to keep those pants white:
OPTION #1:
Soak in oxy and hot water overnight and spray with the carpet cleaner right before throwing into the wash. It’s magic watching it cut through the stains without scrubbing . Works great on those cream/vintage white pants….
OPTION #2:
Clorox2 for colors is another great option! Just place the white baseball pants in a bowl of steaming hot water and 2/3 cups of the powder and let the pants sit for a couple hours or overnight, depending on how dirty they are. Then toss them in the wash and they come out looking brand new! No scrubbing or anything!!! Gets them white and clean as can be first try every time.
Option #3:
Dawn power spray! Truly, a household go to! Who doesn't have Dawn power spray at ALL times. And if you don't, you should!
Spray the area. Leave to sit overnight and then throw in the washer!
OR
A bar of fels-naptha and dawn power wash works wonders for TURF stains! Spray your dawn power wash on the stains. Grab a cup of water to wet down your brush and scrub the fels-naptha soap into the stains. Let the pants soak overnight and then throw them in the washing machine as usual!
OPTION #4:
Murphy's Oil! Who would've thought, right? Put the pants in the sink or a bucket of hot water w/ a cap full of Murphy's Oil & a little borax for a few hours then go ahead and wash them!
OPTION #5:
Iron out… buy it at Lowes… spray the pants (it smells like rotten eggs) and put in bucket or sink and add water to cover them; add a little laundry soap, and sprinkle Iron Out Powder- the bigger bottle at Lowes, usually right next to the spray- that, too, really smells bad; let soak for a few hours till water cools. Throw in laundry, spray again if necessary and add laundry soap and wash as usual.
OR:
Soak pants in a 5 gallon bucket of Iron Out & water. I use 1/2 cup in a 5 gallon bucket 3/4 full of hot water, stir to dissolve. Let soak 24 hours, then wash on hot water in washer with detergent as usual. No scrubbing, they will come out white. Iron Out is strong so have good ventilation.
OPTION 6:
Our last suggestion is White Brite.
Put about an inch in the bottom of the bucket and fill with HOT HOT water and then put the pants in overnight. Then dump the entire bucket in the wash. Water and all and see the stains no more!
And that's it! Those are some of our suggestions. We have heard from all over that these are some of the best products to use on your children's white baseball or softball pants. If you have any more suggestions please let us know and we will add them for other mom's & dad's to use. Helping other parents figure out how to clean white pants is the least we can do! We hope this was helpful for you & everybody else! Please share this wherever you would like to help other parents out!
